It's surprising it took me so long to make a full-fledged Scooby-Doo fan-art, given the Great Dane is the first thing I actually remember drawing, and his adventures the first cartoons I remember following (all the series were airing on Cartoon Network in the 90s when I stayed at my aunt's in Queens during the summer).
Unlike most childhood favorite cartoons, I don't mind (that much) that there have been so many new incarnations of this one lately. I actually enjoyed most of the new series and movies (to some degree), especially the terrific 1998's Scooby-Doo on Zombies' Island (the succesful home video movie which relaunched the brand) that I just rewatched recently and which is still excellent. The latest I've seen isn't too bad (see the dream sequence below).
Have you noticed how the Scooby-Gang is the perfect ringer for the stereotypical teens who always get killed in slasher movies ? The jock, the beauty-queen, the geek and the stoner (come on, of course Shaggy is a stoner. The "sandwich" analogy in How I met your mother makes so much sense !)
